Some anxiety is normal

MRIThat’s what I keep telling myself anyway. You see, even counselors have to practice positive self-talk.

I’ll be going in for some medical tests in a little while, and I absolutely HATE that. However, I also hate worrying as well–although I’m really quite good at it.

I’ve had a lot of extra stress in my life lately, and it seems it has just been compounding. I’m sure that’s a large part of the physical problems I’ve been having in recent weeks. Getting back in a good routine of diet, exercise, and rest will no doubt go a long way to help.

Paul writes about anxiety in Philippians 4:6-7. I like how the Amplified Bible puts it:

“Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

I’m willing to wager that you experience anxiety from time to time too. I pray that these verses will be a comfort and encouragement to you today as they are to me.
