Garrick, Happy to hear that you had a wonderful retreat. I can't think of anyone who deserves it more than you. You give of yourself so unselfishly. Please know that your continuous thoughtfulness and dedication towards others have not gone unnoticed. I so understand and agree with your statement :
"Those who know me well can attest to the fact that I have mellowed a lot in recent years. . . . even in recent months. I’m not nearly as ambitious as I once was, always chasing after things and stuff that just don’t really matter much in the long run. I’m also not nearly as concerned with what other people think about me. Like me, leave me, whatever suits your fancy. I am who I am, and I’m not likely to change a whole lot."
I have come to learn that we often times spend a lifetime chasing after the things that aren't what really matters at the end of the day, and we end up sacraficing the things that do matter the most.
I spent last week in small town Augusta, GA visiting my mother who was there working and having dinner with a friend. There was no such thing as rush hour or rushing to get here or rushing to get there. I was thinking I could really get use to that type of lifestyle.
It's amazing how vacations whether short or long can provide us of such a clear perspective of where we are in life.
Thank you for continuing to share your thoughts and feelings. I appreciate you!!!!
