A Thanksgiving Prayer

November 22, 2012 — Leave a comment

Father, how can we begin to thank You for your goodness, faithfulness, and unfailing love?
You care for your children on this earth which you beautifully designed for our enjoyment and your glory.
You are the giver of all good things, even at times when we prove our unworthiness.
You provide for us from the bounty of your hand, and you shower us with your mercy and grace.

Father, most of all You have provided a way for us sinners to be reconciled to You.
By the stripes of Jesus, we are healed, for He has borne the full weight of our transgressions on His shoulders.
In your mercy, You forgive us when we confess our sin and turn back toward You.
In your grace, You gently guide us when we seek Your face and follow hard after You.

As we pause to reflect on our many blessings, may we see our world through Your eyes.

We thank you for our health and remember the sick.
We thank you for our families and remember the orphans.
We thank you for our friends and remember the friendless.
We thank you for our homes and remember the homeless.
We thank you for our food and remember the hungry.
We thank you for our jobs and remember the unemployed.
We thank you for our peace and remember those in war.
We thank you for our joys and remember those with great sorrow.
We thank you for our freedom and remember those in chains.

May our gratitude be heartfelt and pure.
May our witness be faithful and sure.
May our spirit be humble and meek.
May our words be the ones You would speak.

Father, today may You bask in the light of Your glory
As Your people offer copious thanks to You.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
